Sutton won the toss and elected to bat, and made steady progress reaching 52
without loss. In the continued absence of Alex and Ashley, I shared the new
ball with Matt H. and we managed to keep it fairly tight without making the
breakthrough. However the introduction of Edgar F, and Toby changed the match.
Following on from his 3-13 in the opening match, Ed bamboozled the Sutton top
order taking 5-20 with Toby chipping in with 2-35. Jerry W. then polished off the
tail and we adjourned for tea with a modest target of 106 to win. Bowling
figures were: Matt H. 6-0-28-0, Toby C. 11-2-35-2, Edgar F.11-3-20-5. Jerry W.
2.3-1-8-2, Matt S.1-1-0-1, and myself 7-4-8-0

In reply Edgar and Rob Symondson made a solid start before Ed skied one on
33. leaving us at 44-1. Jerry W. joined Rob and took the score to 66 before both
gave soft catches in successive overs. Jerry S. and Mick R. were also
dismissed cheaply, with the Chairman making an early claim to retaining the Mallard,
and suddenly we were 73-5. Thankfully the Cuddington relief column, namely
Mike Pearmain with 29 n.o. (incl. two massive sixes) and Matt Stockbridge 5 n.o.
saw us home.

It was a slightly stuttery performance but good to get that first win. It was
nice to see Edgar looking good with the ball and bat, whilst Robin S. and
Mike Pearmain batted very well
