The new website is now up and running and the old faithful will be fully retired by the end of the 2017 season at the grand old age (for a website) of 12 years. The stats and reports will be updated through to the end of the season, and the links from the new site to the old will be maintained, but no new editorial or other material will be added after October. Many thanks to all the contributors of match reports, images, stats and spelling mistakes without whose contributions the website would be bare. And so to Wordpress.....
The Concorde website has been going under a major re-engineering during the winter and is almost ready to be launched. A few more days of parallel testing will be followed by a switch over in July.
The current website has stood the test of time over the last 12 years but it has become quite unwieldy to maintain and does not work well with the new devices (tablets, phones etc) which are becoming the norm for browsing the site. Initially, the statistics and historic performance data will be retained in the old site with cross links to the new pages, but all other sections going forward will be unique to the new site. At the same time, new facilities are being added to provide a members only area, the ability to search all content on the site and many other improvements. It will even support real time score updates but implementation may have to wait until a scorer training and update programme has been completed.
The clocks have gone forward, so evenings are getting longer, the temperatures are trying to warm up and the new season has just started. Time to get the cricket gear out of the loft and start early season practice at the club. George has offered to organise Thursday evening nets every Thursday. Look forward to seeing you there. The bar is open after all sessions.
We have a proposed date for, the weekend prior to the first match of the season.. It would be a 11:30am - 12:00pm tee followed by a Sunday roast. All members and guests would be welcome, also anyone wishing to join just for the meal. Please let Mick Reeve know if you are interested, as soon as possible and we can confirm it.
We currently have thirty confirmed with a couple of members still to confirm. Address. Phyllis Court Club, Marlow Road, Henley on Thames, Oxon RG9 2HT Format . Arrive 12.45pm for drinks reception, in the Thames Room, with lunch at 1.30pm. Complimentary Prosecco or Orange juice on arrival, wine or drinks at the table with the meal are to be ordered & paid for individually by card (No cash).
The Concorde C.C. Annual General Meeting will be held at Sendholme on Sunday 11th December starting at 11:00am.
